About The Author

Clara Mee was born in Laredo, Texas, on the banks of the Rio Grande. She and her twin sister Maya were hauled across America by a Hispanic father dedicated to his military career. Schools were many but friends were few and Clara resorted to books as a panacea.

In 2015 she returned to Texas in search of her dispossessed family and found them living across New Mexico and Arizona. Her reconnection with her Mexican heritage opened a whole new world to Clara which now inspires her writing: the hardships, tragedies, drug barons and the exploited attempts of the desperate to cross the border.

Roses are Red is her first book. But it won’t be her last.

Clara is married to a pilot who operates out of Davis-Monthan Air Force base on the edge of Tucson. She refuses to move out of state.
